Video Verification – New Business and Home Security Feature

by | Apr 6, 2021 | Blog, Business Security, Home Security, Monitoring Services

When an alarm goes off, you want to know if someone is really there or not. Enter Video Verification: a way for our monitoring center personnel to see footage from your security cameras during the event and help determine whether it was just triggered by something like dust in the sensor -or- if somebody is actually on-site!

Simply put, Video Verification is the fastest way to get a police response. It enables quicker, more accurate police response and reduces expensive false alarms—so you can get back on with life!

How Does Video Verification Work?

SEi works with each client to create customized action steps should a security alarm zone or video analytic be triggered and sent to SEi’s 24/7 Customer Care Center. When an event such as a burglary is confirmed, the SEI Ambassador will contact First Responders in agreement with the client’s previously detailed action steps. Recorded video can be played back and/or downloaded as needed.

Take a car lot, for example. Traditional security cameras may catch a burglar breaking in and stealing a car, but the business owner may not notice until the next day. When reviewing the security camera footage, you only get a glimpse of the thief, wearing a mask, and at this point, he has a 12-hour head start. With motion sensor cameras, you may be getting too many false alarms, from debris in the wind, to someone working late, or even a stray dog walking by.

With video verification, you can catch problems in progress. You set specifications, such as the cleaners work till 9 p.m. but only use the back door, so no one should be at the front door at all. Or determined that no one should be in the back lot past 8. That way, if someone enters these spaces and triggers the alarm, SEi will not only be notified but we will also verify that someone is somewhere they should not be, per your agreement, and call the authorities. If it is a false alarm, the authorities do not have to be called.

Benefits of Video Verification

The new video verification system has cut down on false alarms and now authorities are responding more quickly with intent. Other benefits of video verification include:

  • Enhance the interior and exterior security
  • Reduce false alarms
  • Save money by not hiring onsite security services
  • Get timely verification for critical areas
  • Record activity 24/7
  • View and download playback
  • Satisfy any required regulations
  • Improve police response times
  • Use existing equipment
  • Remote access for business and home owners
  • Multi-site functionality
  • Increase apprehensions
