WHAT IS A MONITORED SECURITY SYSTEM?
A monitored security system uses sensors and control electronics at your home or business to automatically communicate alarm events to a central monitoring facility (Monitoring Center). The Monitoring Center automatically receives coded information from your system which is recorded in our computer systems and analyzed by trained ambassadors who call police, fire, and medical authorities to respond to the situation.
IS A SECURITY SYSTEM EXPENSIVE?
The cost of a security system depends upon your individual needs. Our sales representatives are trained to work with you in identifying the most cost-effective system to meet your needs.
WHAT IF I DON'T HAVE A LANDLINE PHONE?
Please contact your sales consultant, or call us at 800-334-3272 and we will help you with alternate ways of monitoring your system.
HOW DO I KNOW IF MY SYSTEM IS MONITORED?
If your system is monitored, you can test your system by calling the SEi Customer Care Center (800-279-3667) and they will assist you. You can also ask your SEi sales representative about Timer Test. This optional feature sends a test signal automatically on a regular schedule. If our computer does not receive the signal when expected, you and your SEi servicing branch are notified.
CAN I SET MY ALARM WITH A PET LEFT INSIDE?
Yes! SEi offers the choice in motion detectors that can be immune to pet movement.
IS THE SEi MONITORING CENTER UL LISTED?
Yes, the SEi Monitoring Center has been UL listed for over 25 years. Underwriters Laboratories (UL) is the leader in the certification and listing of Monitoring Centers. In order to receive UL listing, Monitoring Centers must meet demanding requirements for architectural and physical security features as well as emergency power, computer hardware and software and operator training. Many insurance companies require alarm monitoring to be performed by a UL listed Monitoring Center in order to qualify for significant premium discounts.
ARE THERE INSURANCE DISCOUNTS WHEN YOU HAVE A SECURITY SYSTEM?

DOES SEi RECORD MY TELEPHONE CALLS TO THE CUSTOMER CARE CENTER?
Yes, SEi records telephone calls between our Customer Care Center Ambassadors, customer service representatives, customers and authorities in order to ensure the consistency and quality of our services.
WHAT HAPPENS IF MY PHONE LINES ARE CUT?
A basic security system will not be able to communicate with the Customer Care Center but it will sound the siren on the premises. Your SEi sales representative can show you wireless backup options that will overcome phone line problems.
WHAT HAPPENS TO MY SECURITY SYSTEM WHEN POWER FAILS?
All SEi security systems have a backup battery that should run your security system for several hours in case commercial power fails. If you choose, we can configure your system to automatically send a Power Fail signal to our Customer Care Center which will be recorded in your alarm history. Additionally, we can notify you when this happens. This is especially useful if you have a large food freezer, medical equipment or special pets (tropical birds, fish, etc.).
WHAT IF I ACCIDENTALLY TRIGGER MY ALARM?
Simply use your alarm code to silence the alarm and then call the SEi Customer Care Center at (800) 279-3667 with your password to cancel the response of a responding agency.
IF MY ALARM ISN'T ARMED, ARE FIRE AND CARBON MONOXIDE STILL MONITORED?
Yes. SEi’s Monitoring Center will receive fire and carbon monoxide alarms even if your alarm keypad is not armed. These are 24/7 monitored sensors.
WILL THE FIRE DEPARTMENT ALWAYS BE NOTIFIED IF MY FIRE ALARM IS TRIGGERED?
Due to the rapid-spread nature of fire, we need to get emergency services to your home or business as quickly as possible to limit costly damage and save lives.
Residential: We will make one phone call on your call list. If we are unable to reach someone on the first call we will dispatch the fire department. After dispatch, we will then work down the call list to try to reach someone.
Commercial: National Fire Code requires immediate dispatch on commercial fire alarms. We will dispatch the fire department immediately, then work down the contact list to try to reach someone.
HOW DO I PLACE MY SYSTEM ON DISREGARD/TEST FOR DRILL PURPOSES?
An authorized individual on the account may call our Customer Care Center at 800-279-3667 to have the account put on test. Only previously authorized individuals on the account will be allowed to make this request. You will be asked to provide your password.
HOW DO I TEST MY SYSTEM?
SEi recommends monthly testing of your system. Call our Customer Care Center at 800-279-3667 and they will assist you. You’ll need to call to place your system in test mode, you will be asked your password to do this. Once placed on test, arm your system and trigger an alarm. When an alarm is triggered, after the siren sounds call our Customer Care Center back to verify the signal was received and learn how to reset the system. You will be asked to provide your password again.
AM I RESPONSIBLE FOR TESTING MY SYSTEM REGULARLY?
Yes, it is your responsibility to make sure that your system is in good working order. It’s easy to test your system; just refer to your owner handbook, contact our Customer Care Center (800-279-3667) and follow the step-by-step instructions. If you find that a part of your system is not working properly, call SEi at 800-334-3272 to request repair service.

Residential: To update your contact list call our Customer Care Center at 800-279-3667 or send an e-mail to email@example.com. Be aware you will need to provide your false alarm password to change your contact list. Your contact list (and the order of it) is important and needs to be kept updated. In the event of an emergency, your contact list determines who we will contact for further instructions about your system.
Commercial: Authorized users (already listed on the account) may send written notice to firstname.lastname@example.org. Please provide account information including name of business, address, password and individual contact information. Dashboard users can update contact information through your dashboard login.
